MOTOR RACE
Scott Dixon overcame a spin on the first lap and then held off the hard attacking Graham Rahal for the last ten laps to win Saturday’s Indianapolis Grand Prix by 0.4779 seconds.
Dixon extended his record to 19 straight seasons with one win. Victory on the street circuit at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was the first of the season for Dixon, overtaking Tony Kanaan for most consecutive starts. His streak of 319 consecutive races began in 2004, all with team owner Chip Ganassi.
Rahal controlled most of the race after taking his first pole in six years on Friday, but Dixon took the lead when Rahal pitted with 23 laps to go. Rahal closed the gap to 0.2689 with two laps to go but was unable to overtake Dixon.
Pato O’Ward, Christian Lundgaard and Alexander Rossi completed the top five.

ENGLAND: After Arsenal kept fans waiting in line for another 30 minutes to get into the stadium, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka proved the wait was worth it.
Arsenal’s two star wingers caused a stir early in the Premier League with a brave assist and a long-range shot that helped the team start the season with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
The day got off to an awkward start, however, with Arsenal’s new digital ticketing system delaying the start of the game as tens of thousands of disgruntled fans were unable to get into the stadium in time for the scheduled kick-off.
• Newcastle showed they are ready to repeat last season’s top four by beating visiting Aston Villa 5-1.
Alexander Isak scored twice in a win that could have been even greater had Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez not made several saves as Newcastle dominated a two-team game last season that exceeded expectations.
GERMANY: Harry Kane was denied the long-awaited trophy in his first game with Bayern Munich after his team lost 3-0 to Leipzig in the German Super Cup.
On the same day he signed for Bayern after leaving Tottenham from the English Premier League, Kane came on as a 64th-minute substitute when his side were 2-0 down but could do little to close the game turn.
FRANCE: France striker Ousmane Dembélé joined Paris Saint-Germain after Barcelona agreed a €50.4m ($55.2m) transfer deal for the explosive winger.
Dembélé’s move to PSG on a five-year deal comes amid speculation that Neymar could be close to departure. The French powerhouse is also uncertain about the future of star striker Kylian Mbappé.
