A deal is a deal: Beninati sticks to their word, Sport’s Ohlmiller’s Eye Black

A deal is a deal.

Maybe Joe Beninati had it in front of him. Kylie Ohmiller never needed extra motivation. Ever since her days at Stony Brook, Ohlmiller has enjoyed playing with a chip on her shoulder. As an Athletes Unlimited veteran who has returned for the third season after missing the second season with a cruciate ligament injury, Ohlmiller still has that chip.

As Ohlmiller stood in front of the microphone during Thursday night’s week four game, Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse host Joe Beninati lit a fire under the US national team gold medalist.

Beninati, an Emmy-winning host and play-by-play voice for the Washington Capitals, referenced Nicole Levy’s record-breaking six-goal performance earlier in the summer. Beninati bet Ohlmiller that if she reached that mark on Thursday night, he would sport her signature black eye in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader tournament.

And of course Ohmiller delivered. She scored six goals, the last of which came with 2:34 left in the fourth quarter.

A man of his word, Beninati beamed ahead of Saturday’s second game as Ohlmiller went to work to recreate their eye-black masterpiece. He wore it while broadcasting Game 2.

Kudos to Beninati for keeping his word. And kudos to Ohmiller for tying the Athletes Unlimited single game record. Not that she needed more motivation.
