The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer and Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport are a more expressive interpretation of a typical midsize SUV. Of the two, the Blazer adopts some muscle car design elements from the Camaro sports car. If you're looking for something sensible but not conformist, the Blazer has a lot to offer.
This also applies to the Atlas Cross Sport. It's a two-row version of the standard three-row Atlas, but has a tapered roofline for a sleeker silhouette. Its broad-shouldered design gives it plenty of street presence without going overboard with unnecessary details.

Engine selection: For those hungry for power, there is an optional 308 hp 3.6-liter V6. This provides stronger acceleration and additional power when overtaking on the highway. Opting for the V6 also increases the Blazer's towing capacity to 4,500 pounds.
Performance packages: The RS is the sportiest trim and the only one with the V6 as standard. For Chevrolet Blazer buyers who want some of the style of the RS but want to forego the higher price, there are a number of appearance packages available for the lower models. These add everything from black exterior trim to fancier alloy wheels.

2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport
The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport starts at $38,410, including destination charge, and is available in five trim levels: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line and SEL Premium R-Line. This model year brings a number of improvements and updates, such as a redesigned front grille and taillights that span the entire width of the rear.
VW has also kindly added standard features, and every Atlas Cross Sport now has a 12-inch touchscreen, heated and ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa and wireless device charging.
Highlights of the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport
New turbo 4-cylinder: Another new addition for 2024 is a 269 hp turbo 4-cylinder. We found that it offers enough storage space for all types of driving. It serves as a replacement for the previous model's base turbo four-cylinder and optional V6.
Cargo space: The Atlas Cross Sport pampers you with plenty of space thanks to 40.3 cubic feet of volume behind the split-folding second row of seats. That's about 10 cubic feet more than the Chevrolet Blazer.
And even more driving aids: IQ.Drive is a package of driving aids included in every Atlas Cross Sport. It includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, lane centering, adaptive headlights, rear cross-traffic alert and more.
Digital instrument display: Digital Cockpit Pro is a customizable 10.25-inch digital display that shows vehicle information – such as music settings or navigation instructions – directly in front of the driver. This ensures safer driving as less time is spent losing sight of the dashboard-mounted screen.

The Chevrolet Blazer and Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport make good arguments for treating yourself to a two-row SUV that's outside the norm. Nevertheless, both offer a lot of practicality and good driving manners. They're also more adventurous in their design approaches, and we think that's a good thing.
Diploma
Behind the wheel, the Chevrolet Blazer is immediately powerful off the launch pad, thanks in part to its agile steering, peppy engine selection and excellent infotainment system. We wish Chevy had avoided a few cheap-looking embellishments scattered here and there throughout the cabin. The cargo space is also quite small for this segment.
With the Atlas Cross Sport, you get a nice interior, similarly quick steering responses, a large cargo area, and all the new standard items for 2024 we mentioned. It's not a win by knockout, but we think the VW looks and feels a little fresher.
