Sport Manitoba celebrates Night of Champions – Our Communities

On Thursday, April 18, Sport Manitoba will celebrate its annual Night of Champions.

According to organizers, the annual event “recognizes the passion and commitment of the people who drive our thriving sports system.” The winners will celebrate with friends and family on an invite-only evening at the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame. This year's winners include:

  • Official of the Year – Greg Dzioba (Table Tennis, Winnipeg);
  • Volunteer of the Year – Resby Couuts (curling, Melita);
  • Athlete of the Year – David Howes (Figure Skating, Winnipeg);
  • Team of the Year – Team Einarson (Curling, Gimli);
  • Coach of the Year – Gabrielle Wishart (Volleyball, Portage la Prairie).

“These winners have shown incredible commitment and passion in 2023 and throughout their years in sport,” Janet McMahon, president and CEO of Sport Manitoba, said in a statement.

“It is an honor to recognize their impact and contributions as they represent Manitoba in everything they do. A sincere thank you to the event sponsors, volunteers and staff who made the Night of Champions possible.”
