A Choice About Abortion, Crime, Economy – Chico Enterprise-Record

Is it democracy, the economy or abortion that most concerns voters? Of course it should be all three and more. But first we must answer the question: Is access to legal abortion a matter of liberty, economics and crime? Studies have shown that there is a direct link between abortion rights and crime rates. A Stanford study found that the overall crime rate due to legalized abortion fell by 17.5% from 1998 to 2014. Violent and property crime fell by 50%.

The cost of raising an unwanted child must begin with the basic cost of raising a child, which is approximately $350,000. Added to this are the difficulties that result from the social effects of growing up unwanted or unloved.

And we also have the kickback from the results that women have been told what to do with their own bodies and their reproductive lives.

DNA ensures that men are unable to shirk their share of the responsibility of bringing an unwanted life into this world. Opponents of legal abortion find it easy to shout of victory. They sowed the wind. Are you ready to reap the hurricane? I do not think so. Just listen to their campaign about rising crime rates and think about where they are headed.

So this election should be about abortion rights, the economy, rising crime rates, and the integration of all three that come from adopting a right.
