As we continue to develop our strategic plan with the help and support of the Destination Door County Board of Directors and the Door County Tourism Zone officers, together we have created a roadmap that will guide us through the years to come.
Our first focus is making sure we’re aligned with all of you across the community. We will continue to listen and seek input from you, our residents and stakeholders. This is an integral part of Destination Door County’s efforts.
Destination promotion is done for the good and welfare of everyone in our community. We must be guided by the same core values that our community holds, which can help determine priorities and develop an approach that results in a more authentic representation of Door County.
Our goals include creating an environment where Door County’s tourism industry can lead by example, champion the benefits of tourism, help mitigate its impact, and connect the community to its regenerative capabilities. We want to promote our local spirit, values, sense of place, and well-being of Door County to all of our residents, employers, employees, and visitors alike.
Our second focus is sustainable development. By supporting the progress of a more maintainable and equitable visitor economy, we can prioritize sustainable development that encompasses environmental, sociocultural and economic resilience.
It is important to include in our goals that we want to promote our social, cultural and economic strength for a more sustainable, equitable and equitable visitor economy. And we will work to preserve and protect our environment and natural resources.
Our third focus is value-based marketing. We know that the overall quality of our visitor’s experience includes what we all value and how we strive to achieve our common goals.
Door County has so many repeat visitors who want to return because they want to be part of our community, and our local cultural DNA aligns with their identity and priorities. We want to communicate with people who have the same ideals as we do.
We will be bold, creative and action-oriented, supporting transparency and measurable results. We will encourage accountability by highlighting the authentic characters, creative energies and brands of Door County and its communities.
Tourism helps build communities, and we must continue to promote Door County as an essential investment to continue developing opportunities and building a quality of life that benefits all of our residents. As community contributors, we want to help balance Door County’s visitor economy to ensure our long-term sustainability and vibrancy.
