Pointless Celebrities (BBC1, 7.40pm)
OCCASIONALLY the pairings in the celebrity version of this quiz are so unexpected that you’ll wonder if they’ve met before. That’s not the case with today’s edition as there is a particular family theme that could either work in favor of the famous faces or result in a very awkward trip home. Contestants James Acaster and David Acaster, Steve Cram and Allison Curbishley, Chris Packham and Megan McCubbin, and Anyika Onuora and Iffy Onuora will all attempt to come up with the most obscure answers to impress presenters Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman.
The Promise (BBC4, 9pm)
Set in the heart of the Landes during the great storm of 1999, THE French crime drama continues with a double bill. Sarah struggles to stay on the case, manages to connect the two girls’ disappearances and gathers evidence against Fouquet.
She is also troubled when her old high school boyfriend Tony slips back into her life, unaware that he is a suspect in the Charlotte Meyer murder case. Then Sarah is sure that she has found the man behind the disappearance of Charlotte and Fanny Vidal. And she sees Tony again, unaware that he’s been incriminated.
Paul Sinha’s TV Showdown (STV, 9:40 p.m.)
ER is best known for being one of the quizzing experts on The Chase, but Paul Sinha proved he’s also great at asking questions in the first series of this TV-themed panel show. He’s back for a new series alongside regular team captains Fay Ripley and Rob Beckett.
They are joined tonight by Katherine Ryan, Denise Lewis, Gregg Wallace and Big Zuu, who are hoping to prove they pay attention to the small screen.
