Stand-up comedian James Acaster is the prankster behind the Off Menu podcast and a regular on panel shows like Taskmaster, Mock the Week and Would I Lie to You?. However, his ex-girlfriend found someone funnier than him.
The 37-year-old opened up about how he “got dumped for Mr Bean” when his famous girlfriend left him for Rowan Atkinson. Louise Ford, best known for her role in Doc Martin, Crashing and Misfits, dated James for over two years and the two lived together, but she became distanced when she appeared in a theater show alongside the Johnny English star.
Rowan, 67, and Louise, 41, appeared together on the West End show Quartermaine’s Terms in 2013. Speaking for the first time about his relationship breaking up, James said: “I was dumped because of Mr. Bean. I found out a year after we broke up. I opened the newspaper and there was a full page story. No one else in the history of time was ever left for Mr. Bean.”

The year Rowan met Louise, he left his makeup artist Sunetra Sastry, 62, to whom he was married for 24 years. Rowan and Louise moved in together in 2014 and gave birth to daughter Isla in December 2017.
James poked fun at the situation on one of his stand-up shows, saying, “I’m a goddamn saint for keeping this in my back pocket for so long. It’s my job to say things that are funny, and the funniest thing that has ever happened to anyone happened to me, and I put it on the back burner out of respect.
“Until you’re left for Mr. Bean, you don’t realize how many times he shows up. There is a shop two blocks from my house that sells face masks. There is no place I will go where he is not there.”
