The prized photo-op: Pictures of pregnant celebrities are serious business now

Without a doubt, celebrity maternity photo shoots influence their followers with their clothes, location and investment.

Pop icon Rihanna and A$` Rocky are expecting their first child. The news has made the rounds on social media after a picture of the sensational star on the streets of New York showing off her baby bump went viral a while ago.

Motherhood has always encouraged people to take the first step and prefers to certify this phase as an important milestone in life. Why not? It’s about celebrating every day of life. For example, professional maternity photo shoots have been a growing trend in recent years, with couples making the experience a lifetime memory.

But the news about the newcomer knows no bounds and is quite exaggerated. A slightly fancier approach to such shots could be either in the middle of the forest, at a swimming pool, or sometimes with pets. For example in June 2016,

Canadian-American musician Alanis Morissette has posted her pregnancy photo in a swimming pool.

Without a doubt, celebrity maternity photo shoots influence their followers with their clothes, location and investment. Sounds like an event?

This isn’t a new social media sensation, however, as all the love and hate from the following fans either causes them to party, support their favorite icons, or slam them for unnecessarily broadcasting their private lives.

In Rihanna’s case, many were left wondering if the power couple is expecting a boy or girl. In addition, an exorbitantly expensive photo shoot of the global superstar in her belly jewelry can be something exclusive for photo lovers. It could have made the right fashion statement if she could deliver that message in her Savage X Fenty, a lingerie brand founded by the Barbadian singer. Past news reports have also revealed Rihanna’s penchant for celebrating pregnant women in her runway shows for Fenty.

But there’s something vintage, and her love of classic style is evident in these images. Rihanna was photographed by famed photographer Miles Diggs, aka Diggzy, wearing Christian Lacroix’s vintage cross with multicolored stones, a vintage Chanel silk puff coat from the house’s Fall/Winter 1996 collection, and ripped denim Kneeling by Vetements with a vintage look Chanel belt. A$` Rocky wore leather pants, a blue Carhartt denim jacket, a varsity hooded sweater and a black beanie.

Half-naked, undressed pictures are nothing new for celebrities to flaunt their stomachs. Well, Demi Moore’s pregnancy shoot for Vanity Fair in 1991, when she was expecting her second child with husband Bruce Willis, was another sensation with a bare stomach and a huge diamond ring, or another Vanity Fair cover shoot, where Serena Williams posed in 2017.

This January, English reality TV personality and model Olivia Bowen took to Instagram to flaunt her baby bump in Boux Avenue lingerie. She is expecting her first child with her husband, TV star Alex Bowen. Pictures of Beyonce, Britney Spears, Cindy Crawford, Ciara, Gigi Hadid have already set high standards for such photo shoots. While Beyonce showed off her bare stomach in a floral Instagram pic and wore a sequined dress to the Grammys, Kylie Jenner has some intriguing pictures of her upcoming Valentine’s Day collection, which is promoting the new love-themed Kylie Cosmetics. Pregnant with daughter Daisy Dove at Orlando Bloom in 2020, singer Katy Perry showed off her bump on social media and said during the Kyle and Jackie O’s radio show, “I’m really grateful for my body and I have so much respect for other women who go through this process. You get a whole new perspective on being pregnant.”

What finally encourages this is an eye-catching collection of maternity wear, available from labels big and small. Expectant mothers don’t hide the belly and instead rock it with so much ease. Wave dresses, maternity corsets and monokinis make a fashion statement and define this trend. Be it actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, who walked the ramp at Lakmé Fashion Week in 2016 in a Sabyasachi outfit, Neha Dhupia, Kalki Koechlin, Sameera Reddy, Lisa Haydon, Meghan Markle, Khloe Kardashian, Katy Perry… all have embraced zillion and inspired with her glamorous maternity dressing.
