Princess Eugenie moves into Frogmore Cottage, Prince Harry, the home of Duchess Meghan in Great Britain

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have opened Frogmore Cottage, their home in the UK, to Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank.

A source familiar with the situation but not empowered to speak publicly confirmed to the US TODAY that the royal couple are delighted to allow Eugenie and Brooksbank to move in when they start their own family, despite Harry and Meghan’s home on the other side of the pond remains.

USA TODAY has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.

Princess Eugenie, 30, is Harry’s cousin and the younger daughter of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. Eugenie married Brooksbank, a former bartender who became a representative of the Tequila brand, in 2018 and announced in September that the couple are expecting their first child in early 2021.

Harry and Meghan currently live in Santa Barbara, California, where they bought a house a few months ago after announcing in March that they were stepping down from their royal duties. They moved to Canada for a few months before settling in the US, which is where Meghan is from.

A spokesman for the royal couple said in September that Frogmore Cottage would remain the home of Harry and Meghan when they visit the UK

Although it has “little house” in its name, the house is not exactly rustic. It is a 17th century mansion on the 35 hectare Windsor Castle Home Park in the suburb of Windsor, in the tight security zone around the castle.

In September, Andrew repaid £ 2.4 million ($ 3.2 million) in UK taxpayer monies used to renovate the home before moving. Harry had made a contribution to the Sovereign Grant, the public money that goes to the royal family that “fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage,” the spokesman said.

The story goes on

The royal accounts for 2019 show that the money has been spent on construction, rewiring and new flooring. Harry and Meghan agreed to repay the renovation costs and pay the rent as part of the plans that were worked out when they resigned as senior royals in March.
