Paolo Ardoino, Chief Technology Officer of stablecoin issuer Tether (USDT), recently commented online on rumors of images of large industrial containers. This speculation led him to dismiss questions about where Tether mines Bitcoin (BTC).

He clarified that the photo shows a control room at a bitcoin mining site that Tether is currently completing and where it will soon begin operations.
However, Ardoino firmly stated that he would not reveal the location and responded to numerous requests from users.
While he did mention that the site is located somewhere on the South American continent, he didn’t add any further details for security reasons.
“Where? On LATAM. We tend not to share the exact locations to avoid staff harassment, which is a legitimate concern given the amount of critics obsessed with Tether,” he explained, acknowledging that this has led many Tether skeptics to question its legitimacy:
“You can almost hear some of them screaming, ‘NOOOOOOOO, if you don’t tell us the address, zip code and last name of the cow eating the grass nearby, then it’s not real!!!!'”
Addressing doubters who were curious about the photoshopped logo on the containers, he explained that it was a conscious decision by the media.
“We thought the photo would have been shared in newspapers, so the team wanted to brand it,” Ardoino noted. However, he believes that adding logos to the mining sites would not be a viable approach for safety reasons:
“Also, placing giant Tether logos wouldn’t be great from a site’s physical privacy perspective.”
He expects operations to begin sometime in September.
“The site is progressing well, everyone on the team is super excited and working 24/7 to get up and running in the next few weeks,” he said.

This comes after it was announced that Tether is developing mining software that aims to provide more transparency within Bitcoin mining sites.
In an interview with Cointelegraph on Aug. 17, Ardoino explained that Tether is working on mining software called Moria that will enable more comprehensive data analysis on energy production at a bitcoin mining site.
Ardoino emphasized the need for better analysis and performance verification in bitcoin mining. He believes Moria will help evaluate the performance of the site and the surrounding area:
“If the energy used by the mining site is wind or solar, there are optimization parameters, like predicted wind speed for a given day or time of day, that could be used to overclock some of the miners and increase production. ”
