PokerStars presence and influence in North America has increased over the past few years with the launch of PokerStars Ontario The last year has been a big development in this regard. Now PokerStars has announced the start of the inaugural event North American Championship of Online Poker (NACOOP)which will include all jurisdictions where PokerStars is available on the continent – Ontario, Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
While the name may be new, the series itself isn’t new, as we’ve already seen the operator run its “COOP” series on all other platforms Pokerstars USA platforms, but the festival will now take place simultaneously under a single branding.
The first ever NACOOP scheduled to begin September 15th and run through October 2nd 260+ unique events and over $7 million in guaranteed prizes via three separate player pools.
PokerStars players in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ontario have plenty to look forward to as the championship promises huge prize pools, competitive poker and a chance to win 24k gold NACOOP Main Event champion’s trophy included.

Three jurisdictions, one championship
For the first time ever, PokerStars has decided to bring all of its North American “COOP” series under one roof and host one official tournament NACOOPa one-of-a-kind championship that could become a real spectacle in the future when interstate poker becomes a reality in the US.
At this time, PokerStars USA shares liquidity between its player pools in New Jersey and Michigan, allowing players from those states to play NACOOP events together. For this reason the “USCOOP‘, as PokerStars calls it NJ-MI Championship offers the largest guaranteed prize pool of $3 million.
Over there PokerStars PAPlayers play for a total guarantee of $2.5 million in “PACOOP“, that’s the name of the series in Keystone State.
Finally, players in Canada’s largest province have a chance to be there for the first time NACOOP about “ONCOOP” tournaments on the PokerStars Ontario platform with a total value of $1.5 million (CAD $2 million) in guarantees.
The $7 million in prizes will be spread across 89 individual games NACOOP Events, with each event available in each of the three jurisdictions, for a total of over 260 tournaments across the country NACOOP Time schedule.
The NACOOP will host events in multiple poker variants and formats including Omaha, Razz, 2-7 Triple Draw, Seven Card Stud, Mixed Games and more.

From low stakes to high rollers
In its original opening announcement NACOOP, PokerStars has indicated that buy-ins for the championship will range from as little as $10 to over $2,500. This has been further confirmed by the recently released information NACOOP Time schedule.
The Main Event, which culminates in the championship and offers the most coveted trophy, is priced at $300 across all three liquidity pools, with guarantees of $250,000 in PA and $350,000 in NJ/MI. The championship features a total of 20 trophy events (in each jurisdiction).
The $2500 High Roller Championship will be an interesting event aimed at professional players with big budgets and will feature a generous $150,000 guarantee in both PA and NJ/MI.
We should get more details about what’s to come NACOOP in the coming days as the Championship is just over three weeks away and time is short to prepare for deployment.
