Ice dancers Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson are aiming to win a British medal at the World Figure Skating Championships for the first time since Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean 40 years ago.

Britain's Fear and Gibson, who finished fourth at the World Championships last year, are ranked second in the world and took silver at the European Championships earlier this year.
Americans Madison Chock and Evan Bates are the defending champions and favorites, while European champions Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri of Italy are strong contenders and will be aiming to improve on their World Championship silver medal from last year.
Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, world bronze medalists in 2023 and 2021, are also hoping for another podium finish on home ice.
How does ice dancing work?
In the ice dancing competition, skaters perform a rhythm dance (in a prescribed style and tempo, lasting two minutes and 50 seconds) and a free dance (a four-minute routine to music of the skater's choice).
The points for both – consisting of technical and presentation marks – are added together to determine the overall score.
This season, the theme of the rhythm dance is “80s Music and Feelings,” and Fear and Gibson will perform to “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).”
The Brits, known for being crowd pleasers, then present their entertaining Rocky-style free dance.
They will be joined at the championships by compatriots Phebe Bekker and James Hernandez, while UK skaters will also be taking part in the men's, women's and pairs competitions.
