Women’s golf finishes Carmel Cup in fifth place

PEBBLE BEACH, California – The No. 22 Arkansas women’s golf team ended the opening weekend of the fall season with a fifth-place finish in the Carmel Cup. In a competitive eight-team field made up of six programs (including Arkansas) playing at the 2022 NCAA Championship and NCAA Champion at Stanford, the Razorbacks finished the weekend with 28 games and finished in fifth place.

Arkansas was +11 on Sunday while Mississippi State jumped ahead of the Hogs and posted a 361 (+1) as a team. The Razorbacks landed four shots behind the fourth-placed Bulldogs and five ahead of sixth-placed Texas Tech.

Junior Miriam Ayora led the Hogs with a 220 total (72-74-74) over three rounds over the weekend. Her total score of 4 over par led her to a five-way tie for 13th place.

Reagan Zibilski was the second-lowest-scoring pig in her college debut. She finished with a six-over 222 (73-72-77) and placed 20th. Newcomer Kendall Todd had her best round on Sunday with a straight par 72. Todd’s final score of 223 (75-76-72) put her in the 21st place.

Ela Anacona followed just behind Todd in 22nd place. The senior shot a 74 in the final round to compile a 223 total (73-77-74) in California. Kajal Mistry hit a two-over in the final round, highlighted by four birdies. Mistry recorded a score of 225 (78-73-74) and finished 24th in a five-way tie. Julia Gregg scored a 231 (80-71-80) for 40th place.

Arkansas ended the weekend with 50 birdies, the fourth most in the field. All of the Hogs had at least seven birdies each over the weekend, led by Zibilski’s 10. The Hogs also did well on par 3s, with the second-best team average of 2.96.
