The ` Sports Personality of the Year 2022 takes place on Wednesday 21 December at MediaCityUK in Salford.
Gabby Logan, Alex Scott, Gary Lineker and Clare Balding will present the 69th edition of the show live on ` One.
The show celebrates 12 months of incredible sporting action including England winning Euro 2022.
That year also saw a record number of medals won by home nations at the Commonwealth Games, as well as women’s curling gold at the Winter Olympics.
But there’s more to come, including three Rugby League World Cups and the Women’s Rugby World Cup. The men’s football World Cup is still to come, with the final taking place three days before the awards ceremony.
Tennis player Emma Raducanu was chosen Winner 2021 after ending Britain’s 44-year wait for a women’s singles Grand Slam champion with her win at the US Open.
Sporting Director Barbara Slater said: “The ` is the home of major sporting events and has brought key moments from a great year to audiences across the UK.
“We will really be spoiled for choice and can’t wait to celebrate the year’s achievements in December.”
Categories for 2022 include: ` Sports Personality of the Year; World Sports Star of the Year; Helen Rollason Prize; Young Sports Personality of the Year; Secret Hero; coach of the year; Team of the Year; and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The ` Unsung Hero Award nominations will open on September 30th.
