Issam Jebali scored Tunisia’s second goal in a 2-0 win over Chile at the Kirin Cup
Tunisia celebrated a 2-0 win over Chile but Ghana were beaten 4-1 by hosts Japan in Friday’s Kirin Cup friendly tournament.
All four teams are using the event to prepare for the World Cup, which begins in Qatar in November.
The results mean Tunisia will face Japan in the final, while Ghana will take on Chile in the third-place play-off, both games being played on Tuesday.
Ali Abdi, representing Caen in France, put Tunisia ahead just before half-time and Denmark’s Issam Jebali sealed victory in the 89th minute.
It was the Carthage Eagles’ third game in eight days after a goalless draw with Botswana on Sunday and a 4-0 win over Equatorial Guinea three days earlier in Africa Cup of Nations 2023 qualifiers.
Japan dominated from the start against Ghana and took the lead in the 29th minute when Miki Yamane launched and completed a pass on the edge of the box.
But then, in the 44th minute, a mistake by Yamane put Ghana back in the game.
The full-back’s pass across his own penalty area was intercepted by Christopher Antwi-Adjei and his shot at Jordan Ayew went into the top corner.
Japan were back in the lead before the half-time whistle when Kaoru Mitoma’s curling ball from the left missed the skidding Doan’s outstretched boot but still beat Lawrence Ati-Zigi in the Ghana goal.
Mitoma, who is signed to Premier League club Brighton but was loaned to Belgium’s Union SG last season, unlocked the Ghanaian defense again with 17 minutes left when he turned Daniel Amartey before smacking Kubo with a presented direct conversion.
Substitute Junya Ito then set up Daizen Maeda, who had also come on as a substitute, and slipped in for the fourth eight minutes from time.
The Black Stars played their third game in nine days after starting their Nations Cup 2023 qualifiers with a 3-0 win over Madagascar last Wednesday and a 1-1 draw with Central African Republic four days later .
