On Sunday morning I was hoping Tottenham would remember that we love playing Manchester City at home – it seemed like they would and we beat them in five clean sheets in our new home.
However, this was no ordinary victory.
We also witnessed the history of Spurs as Harry Kane did what he does best and scored out of nowhere. Not just any goal, but one that broke Jimmy Greaves’ all-time Spurs goal record while also scoring 200 Premier League goals faster than anyone else.
The performance that followed was worthy of the occasion. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg dominated the midfield, laid a platform for the strikers and also assisted the defense to concede a goal.
Pedro Porro’s arrival seems to have spurred Emerson Royal on as he likely had his best game to date in a Spurs shirt.
The full-time celebrations also included a special interview with Danny Greaves, who mentioned how honored his late father would have been if Harry had broken his record.
I’m sure this result will help Antonio Conte in his recovery after surgery.
