Ryan Schofield has not played for Huddersfield since his injury against Burnley in January
Hibernian have loaned goalkeeper Ryan Schofield from Huddersfield Town for a season.
The announcement comes hours after it was revealed that backup goalkeeper Kevin Dabrowski suffered ligament damage in his shoulder and will be out for “at least a few months”.
It is former England Under-20 international Schofield’s second spell in the Scottish Premiership.
He played three times for Livingston on loan in 2020.
Hibs manager Lee Johnson told his club website: “After Kevin’s injury it was important that we brought in another good young goalkeeper to create additional competition.
“Ryan is someone who has experience in the Scottish league, has performed well in the English league and has a lot of talent.”
Schofield was also on loan at FC United of Manchester, Telford United and Notts County after coming through the youth ranks at Huddersfield.
However, the last of his 32 senior games for his home club came when he was substituted off with a shoulder injury in January’s 2-1 FA Cup win against Burnley.
Paul Clements, Huddersfield’s head of goalkeeping, told his club website: “There’s no doubting his ability but a combination of injuries and Lee Nicholls’ good game has limited his options here at the moment and playing consistently is what’s got him benefits the most.”
Schofield also picked up an injury on his Livingston debut but recovered to make two more appearances before the season was abandoned due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
