Coffs Coast Sports Clubs have received funding for new equipment, programs and facilities to help attract more people to the sport.
Seven sports clubs were among the 836 sports organizations across NSW that participated in $3.9 million in NSW Nationals funding through the state government’s Local Sport Grant Program.
A total of $50,000 was awarded across the Coffs community for the following projects:
• Diggers Cricket Club – Increase young women’s participation by reducing costs
• Coffs Harbor Yacht Club – Learn to Sail programme
• Souths Netball Club – Introduction of inclusive uniforms
• Corindi Pony Club – purchase of equipment to promote better access to sports programs
• Coffs Coast Outrigger Canoe Club – Purchase of safety items to allow for increased participation
• Northern Storm Football and Sports Club – new goal posts for Korora
• Coffs Harbor Crusaders Junior Rugby Union Club – Access and seating for all abilities.
Coffs Harbor Nationals member Gurmesh Singh said the grants would help our local clubs attract more people to the sport.
“Sport is a way of life on the Coffs Coast. These grants provide clubs with critical funding for programs, equipment and facilities that will enable more people of all ages and abilities to participate in the sport,” said Mr Singh.
“Bringing communities together through sport offers many social, health and economic benefits. Getting together with teammates on a weekend or midweek to exercise is so important to our physical and mental health.”
Grants of up to $20,000 were available under the program, with up to $50,000 available to each constituency.
