Everton fan Peter Macfarlane and host of The Blue Room podcast speaks to ` Radio 5 Live about the club's two-point deduction: “There has to be some sort of relief because it looks like it's coming to an end now. “

“I have the feeling that we have been groping in the dark since November – with these point deductions we actually don’t know where we stand in the league.”

“As disappointing as it is to see more points deducted and as much as we feel it is an injustice, at least we now know what we have to do to stay in the Premier League. There was such a cloud hanging over us.” the club and hanging over the fans for so long.

“It was difficult to keep morale up – or anywhere near morale to be honest. We just have to go out and win now and stay in the Premier League.”

“It’s no surprise that the Premier League has decided to get tough. I would have been more surprised if it had been seen as more sensible given how we think they have acted towards Everton and Evertonians this year.”

“We had four separate commissions, including our appeal, and all four disagreed and contradicted each other. There is no consistency or clear guidelines.”

“We have a number of home games but you can't underestimate anyone because the teams we play will be fighting for their lives. We still have Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United ahead of us.”

“It was difficult to take points at home given the mood there, but the Everton players have to stick together and I know we can do that best when our backs are against the wall.”
