Lagos summer sports coaching clinic opens to teeming youth – Sport – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

No fewer than 300 young people aged four to 18 are taking part in the month-long Lagos Summer Sports Coaching Clinic, which started yesterday at the Abesan Youth Centre.

The event, which organizers said is the first of its kind, will run until the end of this month, with participants expected to compete in volleyball, track and field, basketball and soccer.

Participants would also be provided with basic information about each sport as well as practical knowledge.

Tayo Adeyemo, Chief Executive Officer of Wonderland Sports and organizer of the event, said the month-long program will take place both in the morning and in the evening.

He added that participants would receive certificates of attendance at the end of the capacity training. According to him, the goal is to empower young people to see sport as a great opportunity to succeed in life.

Adeyemo added that attendees would also learn more about the technicalities of each sport, as well as time and team management.

He said participants would be encouraged to see sport as a way through which they could also receive scholarships to study abroad and become successful athletes.

“The plan is to bring some sports icons to inspire the athletes, while we will provide all participants with sports equipment and stationery,” he said.
