Former Manchester United defender John O’Shea has been appointed assistant manager by the Republic of Ireland.
O’Shea, 41, joins senior manager Stephen Kenny’s backroom team after working for the country’s under-21 side for almost three years.
During his playing career, he won 118 caps, the third-highest tally of any Republic of Ireland player, and won five Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy in more than a decade with United.
“It’s always been an honor to play for my country and to put on the green jersey so it’s a great opportunity for me to join the coaching staff and work with the current group of players and staff,” said O’Shea.
Qualifying for Euro 2024 begins on March 27 in a home game against France.
