Pakistani celebrities have reacted sharply to the controversial statements made by Javed Akhtar, who accused Pakistan of terrorism in India at a literary event in Lahore.
Several celebrities including Shaan Shahid, Arslan Naseer, Anoushey Ashraf, Haroon Shahid, Resham and others condemned his statements and also expressed their surprise that people in the audience clapped back at his statements.
Shaan Shahid, who took Javed Akhtar to cleaners, said he knew about the killing of Muslims in Gujrat but will remain silent and now he accuses Pakistan of attacking this in Mumbai as well while sitting in Pakistan. The actor asked who issued him a visa to enter Pakistan.

Resham, who was at an after-party with Javed Akhtar, also condemned his comments and said she was unaware that Javed Akhtar was being accused of terrorism. She added that Pakistan is her top priority and she strongly condemned his comments.
VJ Anoushey Ashraf said: “It is important to show respect to a guest. But never at the expense of your self-respect. The way some hung admiringly on Javed Akhtar sb’s leg was a bit more willing to please. Maybe he’d tire of his words if we’d shown him our dignity. (or lack?)”

Actor Haroon Shahid also posted comments on his Twitter account. He accused Javed Akhtar of resorting to selective criticism when he should have spoken about India’s role as well. He called on his compatriots to stand up for themselves and their country, even though the country is going through a difficult time.
Saboor Aly, who shared her two cents, said that while art has no boundaries, respect does. There is already plenty of talent in Pakistan. The nation must first recognize and respect that.
Aijaz Aslam and Faisal Qureshi also published their statements against Javed Akhtar.
