Text description of the architects. The Estuari Sports Center is a new sports facility. Arranged on two levels, the building consists of two large open volumes on the lower and upper floors, which enclose a transparent, diaphanous public entrance area

The building houses various functions, a private club for gatherings for the local community, indoor and outdoor sports, a swimming pool, a martial arts studio, a multi-purpose room, a fitness and yoga room, a sauna and other facilities for conferences, trade shows and weddings. Outdoor facilities include the FINA compliant swimming pool and tennis courts for international tournaments such as the ATP Malaysian Open & SUKMA Johor

The north and west facades are designed with large, folded louvered walls to allow for wind currents and views of the central park from the main entrance. The east and south views are instead blind, each oriented toward a sloping green space and lake view.

The large cantilevered roof overhangs the slats wrapped over adobe walls. The perforated walls are lined with bricks in different directions to protect and shade the interior from the elements. It also protects the main hall from direct sunlight during midday to reduce ventilation and cooling costs

The structural grid is clearly visible and defines the interior spaces with a light sculptural ceiling and a complementary roof. It is easily recognized by the shape of the unique diamond-shaped glass roof and the origami pleated facade that make up the building’s very distinctive features.
