This is the sixth year for the Norton School of Ecology’s Dogs-N-Denim dog fashion show. The pets wear student-designed outfits made from recyclable materials. Fashion studies professor Elizabeth Heuisler points out that the action begins at 5 p.m. Thursday at the University of Arizona Mall.
“We’ll have the UA band playing for a while so people will stop by and see it, and then we’ll have the dogs,” she says sadly.
Heuisler explains that although the dog models are picky eaters, they don’t shy away from the spotlight.
“The good thing is that we don’t have a dog coming on the runway and saying, ‘I just can’t wear that, it’s not my color,'” she joked.
Visitors to the exhibition can also learn how service dogs help people cope with physical and mental disabilities and learn how to train their own animal to become a service dog.
