Try a new sport at Adventus Climbing Gym | from Go 419

TOLEDO, Ohio – As the weather gets cooler, you may be looking for fun, family-friendly indoor activities. After seven years of planning, Adventus Climbing is now open in west Toledo.

The facility was built from the ground up and features multiple 40-foot climbing walls and 15-foot bouldering walls. It offers memberships, day passes and equipment rentals.

Those who regularly practice this hobby say that climbing has become established as an excellent form of physical exercise over the last 15 years.

“Stronger back, shoulders, stomach, your core muscles, [and] “Of course it’s the arms,” said climbing manager Ben Wagoner, referring to the muscle groups used when climbing.

Adventus Climbing offers programs for everyone: there are after-school programs, birthday party packages and classes for all skill levels, including beginners. Organizers said the facility will also offer more programs for adults in the future.

Longtime climbers said that in addition to being a great workout, the sport is also a mental exercise.

“You definitely clear your head, and I think a lot of people don’t realize that it’s a mental game,” said facility manager Hans Rudolph. “It’s almost like solving a puzzle with your own body. So that’s a lot of fun.”

Open seven days a week, the full-service indoor climbing gym’s mission is to build healthy people, healthy families and healthy communities.

“The support system in a climbing gym is amazing. So it’s not just physical and not just mental, but also a social thing,” Wagoner said.

“If you can make it 100 feet up the wall or a foot over the wall, you’re still going to have a good time. The people here are great, the people in the climbing community are great,” Rudolph said.

Adventus Climbing is hosting a special Halloween event called “Haunted Halls and Walls” on November 3rd from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

“We encourage everyone to come in with neon colors that will reflect the black light and we will have some really cool art on the walls and you are welcome to bring a headlamp too. That’s it.” “It’ll just be like a costume Halloween theme,” Wagoner said.
