David Alaba leads Real Madrid to comeback win over Almeria

David Alaba scored on his first touch as Real Madrid made a comeback in the second half and walked away with a 2-1 win in Almeria.

Manchester United academy graduate Largie Ramazani opened the scoring after six minutes, capturing a long ball from Inigo Eguaras before sending a low shot past a diving Thibaut Courtois into the bottom left corner.

The result seemed to slow down the defending champions, who were unable to break through despite dominating possession.

Their persistence finally paid off in the 61st minute when Vazquez found Lucas from the center of the six yard box.

Then Alaba came off the bench, wasted no time and fired a safe free-kick into the back net for the winner.

Valencia, meanwhile, held on to a 1-0 lead from a Carlos Soler penalty despite being down to 10 men after Eray Comert was shown red early in the second half.

Takefusa Kubo scored in his first game for Real Sociedad, his first-half goal being the only goal in the win over Cadiz.

FC Bayern Munich extended their perfect start to the new season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Wolfsburg.

Jamal Musiala was named Bundesliga Man of the Matchday after scoring the opening goal in the 33rd minute on Sunday. Ten minutes later, Thomas Müller doubled Bayern’s lead.

Elsewhere, Union Berlin held a goalless draw against Mainz.

On a dramatic afternoon in Rome, both sides fell to 10 men after Luís Maximiano was sent off just six minutes after Lazio’s home game against Bologna and Adama Soumaoro saw a red in first-half injury time.

Marko Arnautovic scored the opener from the penalty spot in the 38th minute before Lorenzo De Silvestri was deflected in a scramble in the goal area and shot into his own net before Ciro Immobile struck the hosts’ winner.

Cremonese were also short-handed after Gonzalo Escalante was sent off in the 3-2 defeat by Fiorentina, while M’Bala Nzola’s first-half strike was enough to seal Spezia’s Serie A win over Empoli.

In France, Auxerre saved a 2-2 draw with Angers despite being down to 10 men after Lassine Sinayoko was punished in the second half.

The hosts, who took an early lead through a fourth-minute goal from Julian Jeanvier, also benefited from an own goal from Cedric Hountondji.

Emmanuel Agbadou was sent off in Clermont Foot’s 4-2 win at Reims, while Toulouse also picked up three points with a 3-0 away win at Troyes.

Ajaccio and Lens played a goalless draw, while both Brest drew 1-1 with Marseille and Nice with Strasbourg.
