Eddie Jones leaves Danny Care from the England training squad when Hugh Tizard was called up from Saracens

Danny Care was substituted after 35 minutes in England’s decider against Australia in their three-game Test series in July

Eddie Jones has called up Saracen’s lock Hugh Tizard and dropped veteran scrum half Danny Care from his England training squad for autumn internationals.

Jones has also picked up Northampton lock Alex Coles and nine Alex Mitchell.

Bristol prop master Kyle Sinckler and teammate Harry Randall are absent along with Harlequins back Joe Marchant.

The side meet for three days on Sunday before taking on Argentina on Sunday 6 November.

Care, Randall and Marchant were all present in the 2-1 win in Australia in July but missed out, while props Sinckler and Joe Marler are available but not selected.

England currently have a long injury list including Saracen lock Maro Itoje, number eight Alex Dombrandt, winger Anthony Watson and openside Sam Underhill.

Center Manu Tuilagi returns to the squad after overcoming a knee injury, as does Leicester’s Ben Youngs, with club team-mate Jack van Poortvliet and Saints’ Mitchell named the other halves of the scrum.

With just a year left until the 2023 World Cup in France, head coach Jones told ` Sport the door is not closed on Care, 35, who was substituted after 35 minutes in England’s Test decision against Australia in his last international appearance in July.

“We’ve always talked about a squad of 23, with 15 starting and eight finishing,” Jones told ` Sport. “When the starters are done and the finishers begin, it has a traditional aspect like a Nokia phone. You could just call people and text people, and then you have an iPhone and you can do anything.

“The game is evolving and we need a 23 that can do everything. So if we need to gain momentum in the game or stop the opponent from gaining momentum, we can play a little differently.

“With Danny [Care] We had planned for him to play fast in the first half and then JVP [Van Poortvliet] to come on in the second half and play a more controlled game. As it turned out, we felt the 35 minute mark was the right time, so we made the decision.

“In terms of changing the dynamic of the game, he has [Care] did so on Sunday when he came on as a substitute and changed the game. You saw the energy he brought to Quins. He was fantastic on tour [in Australia] and we were very happy about his contribution.

“The way he behaves, the way he plays, the way he trains. I’ve spoken to him since he came back and the opportunity is there. We definitely want to bring an experienced half-back to the World Cup and it will .” be a race between him and Benny [Youngs].”

Following the Argentina Test, England host Japan, New Zealand and world champions South Africa on back-to-back weekends in Twickenham.
