County Simcoe has approved 78 successful applications totaling approximately $400,000 through the 2023 Tourism, Culture and Sport Enhancement Fund.
The program aims to improve existing tourism, culture and sports projects across the county.
“Tourism, culture and sports are a big part of the Simcoe County lifestyle and attract millions of people to our area each year,” said Warden Basil Clarke. “Through the Tourism, Culture and Sport (Upgrading) Fund, we are building our local businesses, economies and communities.”
In 2023, the county received 110 applications requesting more than $700,000 in financial assistance for the $400,000 fund. A list of successful applicants can be found at experience.simcoe.ca/resources.
Through this funding, the county is building to support and enhance tourism, culture and sports in Simcoe County by:
- Investing in initiatives that promote awareness, access, participation and appreciation of the diverse tourism, cultural and sporting offerings in County Simcoe
- Promoting collaboration and partnerships in industry
- Improving the visitor experience by supporting innovative and accessible programs
- Organizational capacity building in tourism, cultural and sports organisations
- Contributing to the overall economic health and local awareness of County Simcoe
The Tourism, Culture and Sport Enhancement Fund is the result of a merger between the Simcoe County Tourism Development Fund and the Arts, Culture and Heritage (Built, Natural and Environmental) Grant and is available to communities and non-profit organizations within County Simcoe.
