Anna Davis inspires bucket hat fever at Augusta National, patron wears Masters gear at tournaments

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – 16-year-old Anna Davis is the youngest-ever Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion, and she famously won with a bucket hat. Will the trend catch on at the ANGC Golf Shop?

“I think it’s a great trend, right. I’ve had these for a long time. It’s a bit dirty, a bit worn, but it feels just right and I’m only wearing it here,” said patron Mark Albrecht.

Quite a few patrons are sporting the bucket hat look at the National this year.

But bucket hats aren’t the only thing on customers’ shopping lists.

Thursday updates from The Masters

“My wife wants a gnome,” said patron Mike Merhoff.

“I just wanted a golf shirt, a t-shirt and some Koozie gifts for my family and friends,” said patron Brad Pins.

“We came in today, got some hats, some shirts and stuff like that. A sweater for my wife, so we definitely spent our money in the gift shop,” said patron John Shelton.

Patrons say they’re excited to take home their merch and memories.

“I received a Masters flag signed by Bubba Watson,” said patron Ebony Saunders.

“Well, it’s cold in Chicago during the Masters, so it’s always a sweater for merchandise,” said patron Jeremy Moen.

Some customers switched to Masters gear right after purchase so they could wear it to the tournament.
