Snow sports fun in the Arctic Valley, a comedy festival and much more in Anchorage

The Brothers Grimm Spectacuathon, 7:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2:00 p.m. Saturday, East Anchorage High School Auditorium

East Anchorage High School’s Thunderbird Theater presents a night (or three) of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales woven into a “spectacle”! This performance will be an attempt to combine all 209 fairy tales into one cohesive fable, brought to life by two narrators and a team of actors. Tickets are $10, cash only, available at the door.

Golden Age of Guitar, 7:30 p.m. Friday, UAA Recital Hall

The Anchorage Classical Guitar Society presents an evening concert of 19th century music. Composers featured include Giuliani, Sor, Diabelli, Haydn, Beethoven and more. Tickets range from $10 to $20.

Anchorage Symphony Orchestra Season Finale, Saturday, 7:30 p.m., Atwood Concert Hall

With Michael Brown on piano, the Anchorage Symphony presents the season finale, ending its 76th season. The event includes Boulanger’s “D’un matin de printemps”, Ravel’s “Piano Concerto in G major” and Berlioz’s “Symphonie Fantastique”. Tickets start at $27.50.

Happy Groundhog Spring Festival, Saturday 10:30am, Arctic Valley Ski Area

Arctic Valley’s Merry Marmot Spring Festival is back! There will be live music, skiing, tubing, fat tire bike events and more. The flagship event, the Downhill Dummy Launch, is all about throwing a dummy off the ramp on skis or a snowboard – just choose a “dummy” that is safe for spectators and don’t forget to register. Everyone will be watching from the lodge as each dummy mounts! Blue and Gold Boardshop will also host the Legends of Alaska presentation and Halfpipe Jam. Admission is free, pre-registration for bike races is now open and all other events can be registered at Arctic Valley Lodge.

“Under :30, A Reprise”, 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 4 p.m. Sunday, 411 D St.

The Out North Fringe Festival continues this weekend with the performance “Under :30, A Reprise” at Theater D St. formerly known as Cyrano’s Off-Center Playhouse. MC MoHagani Magnetek, Allison Akootchook Warden and Angela Ramirez will perform three tracks, each lasting under 30 minutes, paying homage to Out North’s iconic 30 under 30. Tickets cost US$20.

Villains, 7 p.m. Sunday, Mad Myrna’s

Anchorage Cabarets presents an evening of fabulous villains at Mad Myrna’s. Tickets start at $25, but a VIP experience is also offered, complete with a complimentary cocktail and goody bag. Must be 21 or older to participate.

Alaska B4UDie Comedy Festival, Thursday through Sunday, times and locations vary

The Alaska B4UDie (pronounced “before you die”) Comedy Festival is a weeklong festival featuring comedy shows by local and guest comedians statewide. There are 17 shows throughout the week featuring over 55 comedians. Shows in Anchorage include “The Laugh Frontier” on Friday at 7 p.m. at Koot’s, Rubber Ptarmigan Clean Comedy Showcase on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Writer’s Block and “Last Gasp” on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Koot’s . Tickets are still available.
