Posted 11:05 – March Corn is down 2 1/2 cents a bushel, January Soybeans are up 3 cents, KC March Wheat is down 10 1/2 cents, March Chicago Wheat is up 2 Down 1/2 cent and Minneapolis Wheat in March is down 5 cents. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 367.93 points and crude oil is down $1.94 a barrel in January. The US Dollar Index is up 0.160 and Gold is up $11 an ounce in February. On a day without much news, corn and wheat remain lower likely due to weak export sales pace and lack of competitiveness along with pressure from financial markets as the R-word (recession) hits the headlines once again. Soybeans are a little firmer on the back of soybean meal, which has rallied strongly, while bean oil tumbles again with crude weakness.

Posted 08:36 – Corn in March is down 3/4 cents a bushel, Soybeans in January are up 3 1/4 cents, KC Wheat in March is down 1/2 cent, Chicago Wheat in March is up Down 1/2 cent and Minneapolis Wheat in March is up 1 3/4 cents. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 188.91 points and crude oil is down $2.37 a barrel in January. The US dollar index is stable and gold is up $5.40 an ounce in February. Soybeans are hot on the heels of a strong soybean meal market early Friday. Corn and wheat remain in very quiet trade. There is little news as trading begins on Friday, with the South American weather the market focus.

OMAHA (DTN) – February live cattle are up $0.50 to $155.35 and January feed cattle are up $0.98 to $184.025, February lean hogs are up $4.40 to 86, Up $05, Corn is down 1/2 cent a bushel in March and Soybean Meal is up $12.70 in January. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 472.05 points. All livestock is trading higher through Friday afternoon as the market warmly welcomes the additional interest from traders. It’s likely that some more scavenging trading will develop later in the day, but by and large feedlots don’t seem worried about trading more cattle before the end of the week.

Posted 08:40 — Live cattle in February are up $0.38 to $155.225, feed cattle in January are up $0.48 to $183.525, lean hogs in February are up $1.25 to $82.9 up, corn is down 1 1/4 cents a bushel in March and soybean meal is up $6.40 in January. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 175.00 points. Livestock contracts got off to a stronger start, with the lean pork market leading the storm. The cash cattle market could see some more trading as Thursday’s movement was thin. A single bid of $155 is currently being offered in Texas.
