Posted at 10:42 am – December Friday morning corn is up 4 cents as traders hesitate to force a new low while row crops in the Midwest continue to suffer from hotter and drier conditions. November soybeans are down 2 cents, a slight loss from a week of active sales of new crop soybeans. December KC wheat is up 9 1/4 cents and December Minneapolis wheat is up 2 1/4 cents, with traders cautious ahead of a three day weekend and at a time when Ukraine is launching its attacks stepping up to go home with short positions Russian assets. Crude oil is up $1.08 in October and Dow Jones futures are up 29 points. The US dollar index is up 0.53 and gold prices are down $2.30 in December.
Posted at 8:34 am – December Corn is up 5 3/4 cents a bushel, November Soybeans are up 13 1/2 cents, December KC Wheat is up 14 cents, December Chicago Wheat is up Up 10 cents and December Minneapolis wheat is up 9 cents 1/4 cent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 223.68 points and crude oil is up $1.18 a barrel in October. The US dollar index is down 0.250 and gold is up $9.80 an ounce in December. Grains are trying to stabilize after a difficult week. For the fifth straight day, the USDA reported soybean sales by private exporters, with 198,000 tonnes (7.3 million tonnes) sold to unknown destinations as of Friday for 2023-24. Crude Oil hit a nine-month high overnight on the continuous asset chart ahead of next week’s September OPEC meeting. The Labor Department reported that 187,000 new jobs were added in August, indicating continued labor market resilience.
Posted at 11:25 am — Livestock is down $0.78 in October to $180.05, feedstock is down $1.78 in October to $254.25, lean hogs are down $0.58 in October up to $83.125, corn is up 5 1/2 cents a bushel in December and soybean meal is down $3.20 in December. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 39.98 points. With no new cash trades reported, it looks like most of this week’s trading is essentially complete. There could be more cleanup by the end of the day, but prices are likely to hold steady at this point, following the week’s trend. Asking prices remain stable at $181-$182 in the South and $292-$294 in the North.
Posted 8:36 am — Live cattle down $0.13 in October to $180.7, feed cattle down $0.05 in October to $255.975, lean pork down $0.08 to $82.475 in October down, corn is up 3 3/4 cents a bushel in December and soybean meal is up $3.00 in December. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 249.08 points. After Thursday’s trading, there is likely to be more trading in the cash cattle market on Friday, but prices are likely to remain steady. Some asking prices remain stable at $181-$182 in the South and $292-$294 in the North.
