Bollywood actors Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor doubled their money in a pre-IPO bet on a small startup – DroneAcharya Aerial Innovations – which was listed on the BSE SME IPO platform on Friday. Shares in Pune-based DroneAcharya Aerial Innovations traded at a premium of 88% to the offer price on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) SME market on Friday. On Friday, DroneAcharya shares were trading at Rs 102 per share versus the IPO bid price of Rs 52-54 per share. After the listing, the company’s shares were fixed in the upper circle of 5%. On day one, drone startup shares saw heavy volume as 26.92 lakh shares changed hands and recorded turnover of Rs 27.57 crore.
In the pre-IPO fundraising round, Aamir Khan invested Rs 25,000 to buy 46,600 shares and Ranbir Kapoor bought 37,200 shares worth almost Rs 20,000. The pre-IPO price for buyers was Rs.53.59 per share, according to an Economic Times report.
Blockbuster IPO by Drone Acharya Aerial Innovations
The IPO, which closed for subscription on December 15, was subscribed 22.94 times and received an overwhelming response from interested bidders. The retail portion was subscribed 37.89 times, representing demand for over 7.92 billion shares versus 20.92 lakh shares offered.
Of the other two categories, the non-institutional investor (NII) category was subscribed 17.25 times, representing 1.54 billion shares versus 8.98 lakh shares on offer. Finally, the Qualified Institutional Buyer (QIB) category was subscribed 1.03 times, representing 12.34 lakh shares versus 11.94 lakh shares on offer.
On Monday, the company had successfully closed its anchor book account. The company said it had allotted a total of 17.90 lakh shares at Rs 54 per share to four anchor investors.
Of the 4 anchors, Aegis Investment Fund was allotted 3.72 lakh shares, Maven India Fund 5.72 lakh shares, Nav Capital VCC-NAV Capital Emerging Star Fund 3.96 lakh shares and Zinnia Global Fund 4 .50 lakh shares.
