Law firm beats leaked information lawsuit filed by former trading firm employee

By Celeste Bott (May 13, 2022 at 6:14 p.m. EDT) – An Illinois appeals court has upheld the dismissal of a former trading firm executive’s lawsuit against a law firm he alleges is on the hook for disclosure of confidential information should be what led to him being sued by his former employer.

The First Circuit panel said Thursday that a lower court made no mistake in dismissing Edwin Johnson’s third-party claims against the Patterson law firm and attorney Jefferey O. Katz, nor was it wrong in holding the firm’s attorney, Konicek & Dillon PC, not to be disqualified.

The matter stems from a lawsuit brought against Johnson by his former employer.
