Company executives are hinting at a future Dataiku IPO. So when can investors expect Dataiku shares?
Dataiku IPO: About the business
Dataiku is a centralized data platform for everyday AI. It helps users transform and prepare raw data into advanced analysis and machine learning models. The platform uses artificial intelligence (AI) to automate various tasks. This technology can be used for many different purposes, including fraud detection, churn prevention, and supply chain optimization.
The company is mainly used by data scientists. However, Dataiku is also designed for business analysts and other professionals with a less technical background. In addition, the company is expanding beyond its enterprise-focused services to include small and medium-sized businesses. Last year the company started Dataiku Online. The platform allows smaller businesses to take advantage of the platform without having to go through a complicated setup process.
Dataiku currently has around 1,000 employees and over 450 customers. The company’s customers include Unilever, GE, Merck and FOX News. Through its services, the company helps its clients to remove obstacles and develop effective business models and innovative solutions. As a result, it helps teams move faster and more efficiently.
In addition, the company continues to grow into its role as market leader. Last August, Dataiku was valued at $4.6 billion following a $400 million funding round.
Dataiku is valued at $4.6 billion
Dataiku has raised nearly $647 million across multiple funding rounds. The company’s latest funding round took place in August 2021. Tiger Global led the round, which included investments from existing investors such as ICONIQ Growth and Snowflake.
The Series E funding round brought Dataiku a fresh $400 million capital injection. Additionally, it brought the data provider a staggering $4.6 billion valuation ahead of Dataiku’s IPO. At the time of the funding announcement, Florian Douetteau, co-founder and CEO of Dataiku said…
Organizations using Dataiku elevate their people – whether technical and code-based, or on the business side and low- or no-code – to excellence and arm them with the ability to make better day-to-day decisions with data. This latest round of funding is proof that everyday AI is the future, and we look forward to helping many more companies realize its benefits.
The company’s valuation represents a unique opportunity for investors when Dataiku’s IPO takes place. While Dataiku is still private, so are the company’s finances. However, the company recently announced that it had reached $150 million in annual sales. The number corresponds to annual sales growth of 60%. Although Dataiku is still not profitable, according to Douetteau. However, the company hopes its new chief financial officer (CFO) can help change that.
Dataiku is hiring a new CFO ahead of the IPO
Dataiku recently announced that it had hired Adam Towns as its new CFO. Towns and Douetteau plan to take growth-oriented bets that will help the company achieve profitability and be a long-term player in its space. “We already have some big numbers that could give us a strategic foothold in this market,” Douetteau said.
Additionally, Adam Towns’ experience with public companies could help guide Dataiku’s IPO. Towns helped lead Mimecast to its public debut and recently worked at analytics company Sisense. The news indicates that Dataiku is preparing for an IPO, although the company is keeping the timing of an IPO under wraps. Douetteau said…
Adam joins our company at exactly the right time as AI enters the mainstream and as we enter our next phase of growth. His experience leading a company through a period of hyper-global expansion, combined with his passion for data analytics and emerging technologies, gives me tremendous confidence that Dataiku is positioned for long-term success as we work together to empower our customers with everyday AI . Our goal is to ensure that Dataiku is an independent player in the market over the long term. In the long term, we have to build up the company in such a way that it can go public at some point.
