Celebrities are the bread and butter of your typical hard-working Cannes Film Festival paparazzi, you can find them on the red carpet, hop in and out of limousines and, of course, lose your balance aboard opulent superyachts.
But who likes to celebrate where? Will I find Prince Mohammed bin Fahd al Saud alongside Kim Kardashian aboard his epic superyacht Montkaj? Or will Kanye West be snatched from the tender garage of Bernard Arnault’s massive luxury ship Symphony on a jet ski and crash the party?
The Cannes Film Festival sees its fair share of wild deck parties, celebrities like Megan Markle, Priyanka Chopra and Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin) are all known to have attended aboard super yachts with the super rich.
Let’s take a look at some of the better known celebrities at Cannes and the yachts they’ve chosen for their foray into film festival boating over the years.
Emily Ratakjkowski, Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid – Ecstasea
Topping the Cannes celebrity list are three of the world’s most famous models, and influencers have been caught on social media bobbing aboard the superyacht Ecstasea at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. Needless to say, there are plenty of people who would give their left arm who attended the party.

The A$170 million, 86-metre yacht was built in 2004 by the preeminent Dutch shipbuilder Feadship and is currently owned by Belgian entrepreneur Alshair Fiyaz. A regular sight in the waters of the Côte d’Azur, she can comfortably accommodate 14 guests with a crew of 24 to attend to every guest need.
Reserved for the ridiculously wealthy, the ship’s annual running costs are around A$14 million to A$28 million a year, and there’s a massage room, gym, sauna, several indoor and outdoor bars and even a steam room onboard.

It was refitted in 2009 and has a helipad, huge tender garage with the usual water toys and is Bermuda labeled.
Lindsey Lohan—Chakras
The Mean Girls star and regular Cannes celebrity visitor was spotted on the superyacht Chakra, built in 1963, reportedly attempting to use the galley to cook Mediterranean meals for other guests.

The actress was living in London and Dubai at the time and wore a floral Christophe Guillarme dress on the Cannes red carpet that year. She posted #happyramadan on Instagram after reportedly converting to Islam, although this rumor has not been confirmed.
The sea gives me a sense of peace and tranquility and I am totally obsessed with boats and being on the water so this was the perfect choice for this holiday and to celebrate Ramadan.
Lindsay Lohan
The Chakra is available for charter at A$704,310 per week and is also available for sale. Extensively refitted in 2016 and 2017, she was originally used as a North Atlantic weather vessel before being converted into a superyacht in 1998. If you want to buy Chakra directly, it will cost you AUD85.37 million.

Leonardo DiCaprio and David Geffen – Rising Sun
There was no forbidden love and sadly not that many hot encounters in vintage cars when Leonardo Di Caprio stayed aboard the 138-meter Luursen superyacht Rising Sun in 2015, owned by his pal, Hollywood studio executive David Geffen. The luxury yacht was built in 2004, refitted in 2011 and is a regular participant in Cannes.
The huge ship is a favorite of various celebrities who visit Cannes and many have stayed on board the yacht including Bruce Springsteen, Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, JJ Abrams, Martin Short, Jen Meyer and Sir Paul McCartney.

Leonardo was spotted snogging a mystery blonde on the yacht earlier this year, possibly illustrated sports model and short-lived flame Kelly Rohrbach. It’s been a tumultuous few years for the Titanic star’s love life, he and Barbadian billionaire Rhianna reportedly had a night out at a Paris club and attended Coachella together that year.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Geffen chose to isolate himself aboard the Rising Sun in the Caribbean Grenadines and suffered bravely while being served by the ship’s 30+ crew members. It is unclear if any of these crew members have tested positive for Covid.

Kendall Jenner and Tommy Hilfiger – Flag
In 2019, Kendall Jenner was spotted in a tiny, polka-dot bikini aboard the 62-meter superyacht Flag, built in 2000 by respected Dutch shipyard Feadship. The recently dumped Keeping up with the Kardashians star had just ended her romance with Australian basketball player Ben Simmons and appeared to be enjoying her new status.

She enjoyed a jet ski ride in the blue waters of the Mediterranean before reboarding the superyacht and appearing to struggle with the cold water of the onboard shower.
The superyacht Flag she stayed on is owned by none other than American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger. She has a spacious sun deck to hide from the paparazzi and a large pool on board. We can’t imagine the onboard dining facilities actually being used very often by the slim Jenner, but the ship has a pizza oven and grill, and the onboard bar was probably more popular.

Leonardo Di Caprio – The Lionheart
Leo is a regular celebrity visitor to Cannes and often has a film in competition for one of the prestigious awards. He was photographed in 2013 surrounded by a bevy of babes aboard the 64m luxury superyacht Lionheart, owned by Topshop mogul and billionaire Sir Philip Green.

Built by Benetti in 2006, Lionheart sleeps 12 in its opulent cabins. It has now been renamed Lioness V after Sir Phillip decided in 2016 to build another larger Lionheart. Lioness V is available for charter for A$605,000 and up Jet skis, the huge yacht includes water skis, a kitesurfer, scuba gear, a seabob, wakeboards and much more in her garage.
Leo had recently directed the American period drama The Great Gatsby, starring British actress Carey Mulligan and starring legendary Australian director Baz Luhrmann. He was spotted sunning himself on the foredeck of the Lionheart surrounded by as many as 6 stunning women. The actor began dating German model and actress Toni Garrn later that year, but she was nowhere to be seen at the Cannes Marina.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie – Tatoosh
Do you remember Brangelina? The one-time Hollywood power couple was the sexiest couple since JFK and Jackie Onassis and were a staple of tabloids and tabloids worldwide for many years when they were still in the naughtys. While expecting twins Knox and Vivienne in 2008, the celebrity couple took an extended break in Cannes aboard the late Microsoft founder Paul Allen’s superyacht Tatoosh.

In the city for the Cannes Film Festival, they hopped aboard the luxury ship for a Mediterranean cruise while they were house hunting for a property in the south of France. They were accompanied by their adopted children, Maddox, six, and Pax, four. Measuring a whopping 92 meters in length, Tatoosh boasts an impressive archive of voyages that have cruised to some of the world’s most remote and exotic locations while onboard guests took advantage of the luxurious amenities.
The distinctive ship features two helipads, large tenders, a swimming pool, beach club, elevator and onboard cinema for celebrity passengers. It is up for sale for just over AUD$135 million. Tatoosh’s then owner, Paul Allen, was a big fan of building giant superyachts and for a time his famous 126m superyacht Octopus was the largest ever built.
