Vic Berger established himself as one of the great documentary filmmakers of MAGA era at the start of the 2016 election. For the next four years, the former super deluxe video artist made air horns, silence, and slurps the most effective tools for satire. In his work he meticulously researched the lives of such torturous luminaries as Baked Alaska, Mike Cernovich, and other names that make you say, “Oh, yeah, I vaguely remember seeing those names on Twitter.”
But what h -pens to a true patriot after the -ocalypse, or worse, Joe Biden’s presidential election? While cheating people out of their money is still very popular on the internet, many of the MAGA movement’s biggest crooks have largely dis -peared. This is of course not a coincidence. Many of them have been cut off from their main sources of income like Twitter, YouTube, Patreon, etc., for expressing obviously hateful, bigoted and violent messages, spreading misinformation and instigating domestic terrorism, including the January 6 uprising of the biggest stars of the MAGA verses are still out there trying to convince themselves and their flinging following that they are still relevant.
Fortunately, for those who don’t have the time to keep up with Dave Ruben, now that they definitely don’t have to, Vic Berger has kept an eye out for them. In his latest video for VICE, Berger delivers a hilarious and deeply sad look at where yesterday’s stars landed in the past six months. For some, the answer is obvious. Michael Cohen, the “Mooch”, and Army of the Dead Star Sean Spicer all joined Donald Trump Jr. on Cameo, where they tell people who want to be in possession for their birthday that like so many libraries, they were owned. Others, such as Brandon Straka, were arrested for participating in the January 6 riot in Washington, DC. Dilbert creator Scott AdamsHe, now with no friends, is still out here trying to convince people that he’s a hypnotist.
Berger’s work is always hilarious and grotesque in equal measure, and this is no exception. By Scott Baio, who is berated by his wife for saying “goddamn” to Tim Pool, the subject of a recent exposure in the daily beast, grabbing his food buckets, it’s half an hour of glee with names one hoped never to hear again. If we’re lucky, it might be the last time.
