These Celebrities Are Auctioning Their Pre-Loved Items For Charity

Used fashion has become the ultimate status symbol, as demonstrated on the red carpet at British Vogue’s Forces For Change party at MAINE Mayfair in London on Thursday evening. Artists like Alexa Chung, Munroe Bergdorf, Jourdan Dunn and Miquita Oliver all wore pieces from eBay for the glittering event that celebrated changemakers from fashion, film, politics, the environmental movement and beyond.

Because sharing is important, some stars have agreed to donate their beloved pieces from the party for a charity auction on eBay. The OG resale site has teamed up with Vogue as part of our Forces For Change initiative to shine a spotlight on those committed to a more sustainable fashion industry and to highlight the role circular business models have to play in preventing that Textile waste ends up in landfills.

Among the items offered as part of the sale? Munroe’s Stella McCartney velvet dress, Jourdan’s Gucci by Tom Ford animal print bag and Miquita’s Bottega Veneta bag all highlight the selection of luxury pieces available on the site. Also up for grabs is the Tiffany & Co. brooch worn by British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, as well as a Prada suit worn by Raven Smith, YSL shoes worn by Leomie Anderson and Alexander McQueen shoes worn by Arizona Muse.

All proceeds from the charity auction will go to Canopy Planet, a nonprofit organization that works to protect the world’s ancient and endangered forests and, among other things, stop deforestation in the fashion industry. “Giving used pieces another season means there is less need to make new clothing from vital forests,” says Nicole Rycroft, Canopy’s chief executive. “We are pleased to be the nonprofit partner of Vogue’s Forces For Change auction on eBay. What a fun and glamorous initiative that both publicizes and funds Canopy’s work with the fashion industry to protect forests, climate and species.”
