Kelly Oubre Jr. caused a stir with celebrities in the front row of Madison Square Garden before Game 1 at the venerable venue.
Expect there to be more excitement and boos from celebrities after Oubre said, “They're going to give the celebrities that $100,000.” [worth of] Free tickets just to be there and not worry about the game. That’s what they do.”
Granted, some celebrities attending the games don't know anything about the NBA, but others do and have taken note of what Oubre said.
The New York Rangers hockey team did not allow models Emily Ratajkowski and Irina Shayk any more free tickets after the pair walked out of the Knicks' 100-98 comeback game in early November.
Such celebrities obviously don't care about the game.
But Ben Stiller definitely does.
The actor sarcastically responded to Oubre's comments on X with, “Are the Knicks in the playoffs?”
Entourage actor Jerry Ferrara was another disgruntled celebrity who made several posts on X about Oubre's statements.
His first post read: “Oh man, is this guy wrong hahaha? I think that's code for “This place is going to be the loudest place I've ever heard in my career.”
He added: “We show up and are loud when the team is doing poorly. I can’t imagine many people showed up during the process.”
Ferrara continued: “To the Sixers players. Please, please, please keep doing your interviews and talking your shit. We all know you have a rich playoff history over the last decade.”
His last comment was: “Oubre acts like he doesn't love playing in front of famous people lol.” Me. This guy knows the garden is going to be wild.”
