Anurag Kashyap NOT Interested To Work With Big Celebrities Like Shah Rukh Khan-Salman Khan; Here’s Why

Anurag Kashyap is a renowned filmmaker known for some of his memorable films and notable works in Bollywood. The director debuted with ‘Paanch’ in 2003 and went on to make successful films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Masaan’, ‘Bombay Talkies’ and more. The director has had a huge influence on Indian cinema and changed the trajectory of mainstream films over the years. The filmmaker was last seen in Haddi opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Anurag Kashyap is known for his unique way of making films and always provides opportunities for new talent. Over the years, he has gifted Bollywood gems like Vicky Kaushal, Richa Chadha, Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui to name a few. However, the actor believes in not working with top-notch actors or prominent personalities from the entertainment world.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Anurag Kashyap revealed the real reason why he never tried to work with prominent stars of the industry. He said, “Though I came here to make films, there was a time when I succumbed to this habit (the habit of chasing stars). Everyone told me, “Without stars, you do this… imagine what you’ll do with stars.” Then the tide turns and the downward slide begins.”

He further said, “If you don’t take care of his fan base when working with a star, they will cancel you.” And my film was canceled because I was doing my own film. I don’t care about anyone’s friends or fan base.”

Anurag Kashyap continued: “There is no such practice in other countries. So you have more freedom and there are also actors involved. Hero worship drives us here.”

He also spoke about the growth of OTT film franchises and said, “OTTs have also just created space for OTT stars and leveled the game.” This ensured that good actors got better roles and better salaries. Now a Pankaj Tripathi or a Nawazuddin Siddiqui can direct a film.”

He further talked about big stars in the industry and said, “Even when they are experimenting or messing around, they think a lot because when their fan base is upset, they react very strongly.” They go after everyone. After Tubelight, Salman Khan fans made their way to director Kabir Khan.”

Talking about Haddi, the film will stream on ZEE5 and release on September 7. ‘Haddi’, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shreedhar Dubey, has received positive reviews and is directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma.
