When John Torode or Gregg Wallace ask contestants why they came to Celebrity MasterChef, neither of them ever replies “to put my face in front of TV cameras” or “to plug my new show.” Instead, always “to learn something new” or “because I’ve always loved to cook”. Anyway, the latest kitchen load of famous amateurs includes ex-boxing champion Chris Eubank, Cliff Parisi of Call The Midwife, Mel Blatt of ’90s girl group All Saints, TV choirmaster Gareth Malone and Queen MoJo of ITV2 reality series Peckham’s Finest . “As best I can remember, starting out was at Celebrity MasterChef,” says Gregg of her initial efforts.

This latest addition to Channel 4’s enormous real estate TV portfolio continues with brother-sister developer duo Scarlette and Stuart Douglas lending their expertise to single mum Paula, who has bought a struggling house in Wirral – last but not least, running water flooding the ground. To make matters worse, Paula only has £20,000 to spend. If construction costs increase, will there be enough funds to complete the renovation?
secrets of spies
9pm, ITV
The spy docuseries now focuses on assassinations and targeting the enemy, including the 2006 poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko and the 2018 assassination of Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia in Salisbury one of the most famous spy killings of all, which took place on Waterloo Bridge in 1978 when Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov was poked with the tip of a poisoned umbrella and died shortly thereafter.

The conclusion of the two-part documentary shows how Ron Jeremy’s alleged crimes eventually came to light. After making his mark as a porn star, he’s now transitioned into the mainstream, making Hollywood friends, becoming a reality star and even selling his own line of rums. But when he is accused of molesting a 15-year-old girl and a lifelong friend who goes to church, police finally investigate.

The latest episode gives plenty of room to Mira’s entertainingly outrageous crack-addicted German co-star Gottfried (Lars Eidinger), who gives an unsupervised interview to two speechless journalists. Mira herself (Alicia Vikander, who lends emotional baggage to the company) has a crush on her ex-boyfriend Eamonn (Tom Sturridge), unaware that her ambitious assistant Regina (Devon Ross) has eyes for her.
The Box: An American Murder Story
10 p.m., Channel 5
More true crime, this time following Detective Chris Loudon’s mission to uncover the truth behind one of America’s worst serial killers. Loudon discovers an evidence box that was confiscated decades ago and left untouched. Inside the box are dozens of photos of young women, and Loudon unveils a murder mystery and a monster hiding in plain sight in a small town in America – a place where reports of abuse by women in the ’70s were dismissed.
