The Most Googled Celebrities of 2022

Conducted by celebrity news site CelebTattler, the study analyzed Google search data for over 150 of the most influential celebrities since January 1, 2022 to determine which celebrity of the year was the most talked about.

The study found belongs to amber as the most Googled celebrity of the year with an average of 5.6 million searches per month in America in 2022. Heard made headlines alongside her former husband Johnny Depp – who is second in line – amid a defamation trial from April to June this year.

Johnny Depp was googled an average of 5.5 million times per month this year, slightly fewer than heard. Despite Heard having the highest overall search interest, 34 out of 50 states searched more for Johnny Depp this year than any other celebrity when broken down geographically.

Queen Elizabeth the second received the third highest number of Google searches in America in 2022. Britain’s longest-reigning monarch died in September 2022, causing The Queen to be googled 4.2 million times every month.

Tom Brady is the most Googled sports star in America in 2022 and the fourth most Googled celebrity overall. Brady was googled 4.06 million times a month that year. Brady announced his retirement from the NFL in February and recently made the news due to his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bundchen.

One of the most talked about couples of 2022 takes fifth and sixth place respectively. Kim Kardashian was googled 3.4 million times a month across America in 2022, making her the 5th most searched celebrity of the year. Her former boyfriend for much of the yearPeter Davidson ranked sixth and was googled an average of 3.2 million times per month.

Due to his recent controversial takeover of Twitter, billionaire Elon Musk is the 7th most Googled celebrity of the year. Musk was googled 3.19 million times a month in America.

Will Smith ranks the eighth most Googled celebrity of the year and is searched 3.15 million times, just behind Elon Musk. Will Smith made headlines in March after he slapped comedian Chris Rock onstage during the 94th Academy Awards, where he later won Best Actor for his role in King Richard.

Rounding out the top ten are two actresses who were the faces of hit TV shows in 2022. Millie Bobby Brown is the ninth most Googled celebrity of the year in America, with American actress Googling “The Stranger Things” 2.78 million times a month this year.

zendayaby Euphoria, completes the top ten and is searched 2.71 million times per month in America year-round.
