Art Basel Miami Beach, now in its 20th year, has evolved from a week-long art fair showcasing high-priced artworks from American, Latino, European and Asian galleries into a major event surrounded by parties that intersect with Fashion, Luxury, Music, Pop Culture and more. That has led to scores of celebrities heading to South Florida for a week, and this year’s iteration was no exception.
Some celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio (previously featured on ARTnews’ Top 200 collectors list), Pharrell Williams, former NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire, Martha Stewart, Serena Williams and Venus Williams, the latter attended Tuesday night’s elegant Hauser & Wirth party at Carbone. Others have indicated they have made art purchases in the past, such as Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and more.
