Nick Arthur was leaping more than waves on a sandbar about 25 toes offshore when he begun screaming, his father advised CNN.
“At initial I thought he was screaming out of joy, and then I seemed at him and observed the shark,” Tim Arthur stated.

Arthur explained his daughter swam to shore whilst he and his son fought the shark. Arthur stated he kicked the shark close to its nose although Nick was hitting him with his hand. The shark let go of Nick’s thigh as it tried to nip at his hand, allowing Nick to swim no cost.
The attack occurred in the ocean around Vehicle Ramp 25, about 2½ miles south of the village of Salvo, according to the Countrywide Park Assistance.
The Arthur relatives were being going to Cape Hatteras National Seashore from their household in Oak Ridge, North Carolina, around Winston-Salem.

He finished up with approximately 40 tooth prints on his thigh and acquired 17 stitches, his father stated. He experienced to get stitches on his thumb and has tooth scrapes on his hand.
While bruised and sore, Arthur said his son is very good spirits and luckily for us, there appears to be no long lasting hurt. He reported the incident hasn’t soured the family on swimming at the seaside, but included they possibly would not go out as much in the potential.
