Roommates, although recent Georgia recount has been officially completed and certified – Donald Trump has now requested another formal recount related to the 2020 presidential election that saw Joe Biden elected President. This would be the second recount and third voting table overall after the November 3rd presidential election, in which Joe Biden led Donald Trump to become the new POTUS.
Donald Trump’s election campaign called for an official vote recount in Georgia just hours after state officials reconfirmed the results and declared Joe Biden the winner again – flipping the traditional red state blue. Trump’s recount request is the latest attempt by his legal team to advance widespread fraud attacks without evidence.
Georgia’s latest recount results showed that Biden beat Trump by 12,670 votes out of about 5 million votes cast, or 0.25%. State law allows a candidate to request a recount if the margin is less than 0.5%. Republican Governor Brian Kemp formalized the list of the state’s 16 presidential voters. The Trump campaign sent a hand-delivered letter to the office of Georgian Foreign Secretary Brad Raffensperger asking for the recount of an election that Trump and his supporters have continually peopled with unsubstantiated allegations of fraud.
Trump’s statement from the legal team wrote the following statement:
“Today the Trump campaign in Georgia filed a recount motion. We focus on making sure all aspects of Georgia State Law and the U.S. Constitution are followed so that every legislative vote is counted. President Trump and his campaign continue to insist on an honest recount in Georgia, which must include signature matching and other critical safeguards. “
Late last week, Kemp raised concerns about the signature when certifying the state’s voters. The Republican colleague Raffensperger, however, reaffirmed his confidence in the results and recently said that “the electoral system in Georgia has never been so secure and trustworthy”.
