Restrictions to contain the spread of coronavirus are tightening across the UK, including a four-week lockdown in England. Nursing homes, however, can rightly go the other way. The previous rules made no scientific sense and have harmed many vulnerable people.Nearly 14,000 nursing home deaths in the UK were traced to covid-19 between April and July 2020, and as a result, strict visiting restrictions were placed on home residents. Many were isolated from normal family contact for months.
