GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Greenville City leaders expect this week to be a big one for the upstate economy. The Fall for Greenville is back in a few days and begins Tuesday, as is Broadway in the Peace Center.
The lights, the pirouettes, and everything in between are back in downtown Greenville.
“I love live music, shows, and culture, but I still stayed away,” said Steve, who was visiting Greenville, North Carolina.
As with most of the others, the last time Steve saw a Broadway production at the Peace Center was before COVID.
“We were on the Carole King Show two or three years ago,” Steve told us.
However, to keep the show going, there are new COVID security protocols in place. You must provide any of the following evidence that you are fully vaccinated, whether digital or physical, a positive COVID-19 antibody test or a negative COVID test, within 72 hours of the performance.
“If I were to run the Peace Center, I would be doing exactly the same thing. Hadestown, a winner of eight Tony Awards, is enormous, ”said Glenn Brown, Greenville resident.
Glenn Brown is all for security protocols. There he has tickets for a show in the not too distant future.
Same goes for fall for Greenville, which is just around the corner.
“First fall for Greenville, as excited as I can get,” Brown told us.
Events like these that Beth Brotherton told us with the City of Greenville leave a lasting positive impact on the region.
“As you walk down our fantastic Main Street, you may see something you want to stop and buy.
She told us that they’d love to have this stuff back in town not only for entertainment but also to help support local businesses.
“Ticket sales outside of the state have been remarkable this year. This really is an opportunity for people to visit our amazing breweries and local restaurants and listen to local and regional music,” Brotherton told 7 News.
The Fall for Greenville opening concert is Thursday night. It officially starts on Friday lunchtime.
