Salford City 1-0 Bradford City

A late Matty Lund winner helped Salford to a 1-0 win over Bradford.

The Ammies got off to a promising start trying to respond to two consecutive losses, with Josh Morris just missing the mark early on.

Well-formed Bradford striker Andy Cook almost scored the goal on 15 minutes with a precise header, but his shot dropped a post from the wrong side as neither side could break the impasse in an uneventful first period.

Salford’s Welsh goalkeeper Tom King, who had returned after his international match, showed himself in inspired form and held off a powerful header from Cook with a miraculous save.

Cook was frustrated again shortly afterwards when an impressive double stop from King ensured the score stayed level.

The lively Brandon Thomas-Asante missed a glorious chance when his massive hit went over the gate late, but shortly afterwards he was spared the blush.

With moments of normal playing time, Lund hit a deep corner to transform into an open net and gave Gary Bowyer the win over his former side.
