MONTGOMERY – Later this month, community members and students will be able to attend an evening vaccination clinic at Montgomery Area High School, a recent school council meeting announced.
“As part of our health and safety plan, we are committed to giving our community and students the opportunity to get vaccinated at school to make it easier for our community.” said Daphne Bowers, superintendent.
Jared Shriver, a pharmacist at Wegman’s, told the board that vaccinations are different “Tools in the arsenal” to fight the pandemic.
“I know that there is great fear. I know there is a lot of fear, a lot of fear, of getting the vaccine. “ Shriver said, adding that there is a shortage in the 12-15 year old age group.
Shriver informed the board that the vaccines would be offered to community members aged 12 and over. The Pfizer vaccine is available from 12 years of age and the Moderna vaccine from 18 years of age. Students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent to receive vaccination.
The clinic will take place on September 7th from 4pm to 8pm in the grammar school. Bowers said people should enter at the front of the building. The clinic takes place in the nurses’ area and in the library.
On human resources issues, the Board approved: Michelle Everetts, restaurant assistant; Danielle Bryson, special education high school; Steven Smith, elementary school education teacher with a salary of $ 52,086; and Bridget M. Irwin, professional behavior technician.
Several updated board guidelines have been approved by the board. This included guidelines related to: Professional Representative Compensation, Meetings, Public Participation in Board Meetings, Trauma-Aware Approach, Guns, Terrorist Threats, Harassment, Bullying and Cyberbullying, Dating Violence, Emergency Preparedness, and School Security Guards.
They also approved the Montgomery trauma-informed plan.
Catherine Walker approved as a bus assistant.
The next board meeting will be held on September 21 at 7 p.m. in the boardroom, 120 Penn St.
